Rear brakes on 2005 Rancher
#1
Back brakes are seizing when applied. I sprayed some lubricant on the outside to try to get it to loosen up. My PLAN was to pull the right rear wheel and hub and take off the brake cover and clean up the best I could. I COULD not break the castle nut free (yes, I removed the cotter pin!) Looked through the Clymer's manual and it seemed to indicate I needed to take off the left rear wheel and pull the axle??????? This cannot be right.
What is the correct way to get access to the brake area?
Does the nut on the right, rear hub have reversed threads or something else I'm missing? The lug nut bolts really get in the way to of getting a proper wrench on the nut.
ANYTHING anyone can offer for help is greatly appreciated.

You need to use the proper socket and a ratchet with a piece of pipe over the end. The torque for that nut is 100 ft/lbs or there abouts. Definantly use the right tools or your going to make a mess of it.
