Default Fourtrax 250 Carb Help...

Hello everyone, I'm working on our 1986 TRX 250 Fourtrax that had been sitting for a while. I drained the fuel tank and took the carb off and cleaned it, replaced the spark plug and air filter. It runs, but the engine won't rev down, it sounds like its at half throttle all the time and won't idle down. I've already ruled out cable problems and the throttle blade in the carb moves freely, so it's not stuck. What should I look for and which screw is the idle mixture screw? It's just idling way too high. Thanks.

Default Fourtrax 250 Carb Help...

First thing I would check is for a intake leak on your carb or intake manifold it will do the same thing and if not repaired will lean out your motor and burn it up. the large screw on the side of your carb that touches the slide is the idle adjustment back it out and verify that your slide slides all of the way down and seats do this by looking in the carb intake also re verify your cable routing and if it will seat properly after it is installed on the intake manifold it might me hanging up.
