Default BATTERY NOT CHARGING

I HAVE A 198? HONDA XL 185 THAT THE CHARGING SYSTEM D0ES NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING. CAN CHARGE THE BATTERY AND LIGHTS WORK BUT GO DEAD WHILE RIDING AND LIGHTS GET DIMMER AND GO OUT EVENTUALLY.

HOW DO I TEST TO SEE WHAT COMPONENT IS NOT WORKING? I SUSPECT THE RECTIFIER.????

HOW CAN I TEST IT AND OR OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE CHARGING CIRCUIT COMPONENTS?

Here is the CDI test but it isn't accurate unless tested with a Sanwa sp10d or Sanwa sp15d tester ..

you can probably use any multi-meter for this task.

I don't believe Honda still supplies these meters .. The 2 we have are approx 20 years old .. I'm sure there are other meters that will do the tests but NOT just any multi-meter will give you an accurate test ... Myself I have 3 Fluke meters (model 77 , model 88 auto , and 863 graph) and the shop has Snap On , Mac , and a few others and none will test CDI's ..
