Rancher LCD GONE!
#1
I have a 2000 Rancher es (bought it left over in 2002) It has pretty low hours as I only use it in deer season. I start it every month or so in the off season. The last time I started it the LCD display did not work. I removed the three screws that hold the plastic cover around the LCD, but went no farther. I just wigled wires etc. Is anyone familiar with this problem? I was hoping it was a wire and hope I do not have to buy a new LCD gauge.
Thanks, Russ

I'd check the fuses and wiring first. If you do need a guage, check E-bay, I found one there for my Foreman after 8 months of searching (mine turned over and smashed the stock LCD display!!!)

Thanks for the comeback!
I checked the fuses, but will check again. I sure wish I could get some good input from a dealer!!! Just can not!
Is seems strange that it went out as I was not riding it, hence no shock or bumps to jar anything. I have had LCD displays loose pixels, but not go out completely.
I removed the plactic shroud and looked behind the unit. I did the obligatory "wiggling of wires" but did not want to remove the LCD unit.

If there's no fues blown i would try unplugging the wire connectors one at a time and use Di -Electric grease in the connectors , it could be that some corrotion has occured inside the connectors causing the pod not getting good current flow ; this is only a guess here but worth a try !.......

Yeah, Thanks for that. I will pull it apart as soon as I can. We are looking at a possible hurricane Mon. or Tue. here in the Keys. So it will have to wait a few days at least!!!
