Default recon shifting problem

Please help!!! I have replaced te shift angle sensor tonight and same problem. The 1st gear light is on solid even when bike is in neutral. I disconnected the battery trying to clear any codes that might be stuck in the ECM. Could the ECM be bad??? Anybody ever seen anything like this before???

no its not flashing at all. Stays in solid. It did give a code one time before of 8 flashes about a week before this happened.

Got it fixed finally. Replaced the ECM module. works like a new one now.

So when the first gear light stays on solid and never goes off even when its in neutral this may be the problem.

I've seen this happen the same way you describe, and the speed sensor is bad.
Eventhough the recon has no speedo, it still has a speed sensor to let the ecm know speed per gear and when not to let it shift down for rev issues
So if it does it again with the new ecm.... replae the speed sensor
