Opinions on Winches
#21
Before I got a winch of my own I made sure I had my friends pull me out so I would know what type I would want to have on my own rig.
Ramsey, Warn and Masterlock <? all did the job, but I went with something off of an auction web site and I plan on making my friends pull me out some more.

myself and everyone i ride with has a 2500 warn winch, about 6-10 of us regulary. all kind of power but, if there isn't enough power for the situatuion we carry a couple of pulleys. double or triple the leverage or just use 2 machines.
14 of us go to canada every year to ride. last trip we had a bad accident(no one hurt though). quad down over a very steep and long bank. we hooked up three winches to it and pulled it up over the bank no problem.
with all that being said. my contactor box shorted out twice on my quad, twice on my fathers, and once on my brothers. all warn contactors. we all called warn, at different times of course when the problem happened. they said they never heard of the problem. obviously they have. every time though they sent us new contactor boxes no charge. got to hand it to them, who else would do that?
