Honda Recon jumping
#1
I have a 2001 Honda Recon 250. My son rides this and he likes to jump over small mounds at a local ATV park. Are these machines okay to jump? Several of my friends say they are not okay to jump.

jump it till it falls apart!!! Na I'm just kidding you. i got one myself and have jumped it about 5-10 feet before and it is just fine for little jumps. but no its not made for it at all and if he doesn't know how to land then you can easily break it. if he likes jumping go for a sport quad.

They aren't that bad. The first guy in this video had a Recon that he beat on big time. It is still running well. In the video a 3rd quad starts jumping with the 2 big Polaris machines and it is the Recon that the 1st guy used to own being ridden by his younger brother. His younger brother can be a little boneheaded and on several trips he has entertained us with various rollovers, over the handlebar stunts, etc. He manages to survive them all somehow. I'm just glad he wears a helmet.

While I have busted out some air before on the Recon, it really doesn't have the suspension for that. The suspension is tight and has limited travel, but with a light kid on it, you may get away with it.
One thing, it is narrow and heavy (compared to a sport quad), and if he lands bad he is going to be in big trouble!!! If he likes to jump, get him a Raptor 250!
