Recons are awesome. The only thing I think they lack is suspension and top speed. everything else is awesome

I just bought the 2000 Recon this past friday... I love it! But... is your brother-in-law a big guy? If he is, you may consider going to the bigger Honda 350 2x4, same style, bigger body and engine. If he is looking for something just to tool around in this is the bike for him.

The Recon is the best entry level quad out there bar none. You can't go wrong with it. It handles good, good speed, doesn't use much gas, & of course its a Honda.

The Honda Recon rules the mid-size atv class. Its an awsome atv with loads of bottom end power, I have have never gotten stuck or been unable to climb a hill with mine. I have gone 49.7 mph on mine and because its a smaller fram it feels like you are going a lot faster.
If you go to the atvconnection homepage and click on atv reviews there is a Recon review that might be of some help to you.
I hope you make the right choice because this atv is excellent, and remember you can't go wrong with a Honda!
