Default CRF450 timing chain on a 400ex

I would recommend getting a timing chain specific for a 400EX.
Why cheap out on something as important as a timing chain?
You can get a brand new timing chain on ebay for $40.00!

Yes, it will work. First hand experience here.

Not only will it work, but it's a better chain than ANY aftermarket timing chain you can find on ebay made in China I assure you. The OEM chains cost dealers over 50 bucks cost so anything less is definitely NOT an OEM chain. Most OEM 400EX chains start around 80 bucks a pop.

Even buying OEM,..the 400EX chain is 4 times as expensive as a brand new chain for the CRF450....and both are made in Japan. Go figure.
