Default problem at the machine shop

well i took my cylinder to the machine shop to get it bored and honed and they called me back today saying my jug is messed up...they said when they went to bore it the sleeve spins.....wtf something doesnt sound right about what they are doing. not sure what type of boring machine they use but i think something just isnt right. i knew the prior owner and he bought it new back in 87 and the engine was never taking apart and has never had a rebuild.

the machines they use are very accurite. they dont use much force. if the sleeve is spinning i would think that your jug is warped.

some cylinders are not supposed to be re-bored but you can get them re-lined

idk im going there tomarrow to see whats up....everything checked out ok when i checked for warpege, but then again that was just the top of the jug maybe there is something else screwy with it. im just frustrated with this machine shop this is the 2nd thing of mine they have had "problems" with but they are the only machine shop within 2hrs of me.

and these cylinders can be bored, there is no coating.

Default problem at the machine shop

well i went to the machine shop to talk with the owner and i guess what happend is the guy who was working on it is new and didnt know the machine. he tried to take to much out and it cought the sleeve just right and spun it inside the jug.

after some talking with the owner he agreed to replace my cylinder and do any work for free and do the work himself. after hearing the news yesterday i was pissed and ready for a fight but decided to go in with a cool head and listien to what happend before i got mad.....and it worked out.

Good deal. Any shop can make a mistake, but the good ones take care of you when they do...
