Default Shifting into nuetral

Its the foreman 450ES 2001. I have only had the quad for a month and have noticed it before, but I really noticed it plowing the foot of snow today. Everything shifts really smooth except when I want to go into Neutral. I have to , pull brakes, shake, and press repeatedly sometimes. Others it goes in relatively smoothly.

Could this be from a two high of idle, you definitely will be going somewhere if the machine is in gear and you don't have a break depressed. My rincon doesn't move unless I press the gas.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks

Tim

Yes, too high an idle will cause shifting problems.

I'd adjust that first. I think there is also an adjustment on the 450's for the change clutch (there is on the 500's). Also make sure you are running an appropriate weight oil for the temps you are running in.

I'd bet, though, setting the idle to where it is supposed to be solves your problem.

Default Shifting into nuetral

my 01 foreman 450 es does the samething. i also have not had it that long or should say running that long (i bought it as a basket case) got it back together and was fine for a while in even in colder temps. now 30 degrees and lower it sticks in reverse and i have to do the samething you said to get it back to neutral. it seems if i take it out and run the hell out of it, it seems to be a little better. 10w-30 oil, also idles low, it might creep if situation is right but i'll leave it in first get off and shut the garage door after getting it out. it does really jump into first gear from neutral. clutch adjustment i think. haven't tried it yet.
