not to hijack this thread but will that trick with a swelled diaphram work with a swelled float bowl gasket/o ring? i took my float bowl off my 250x and the seal swelled up and wont fit into the groove on the bowl.</end quote></div>

Yes, it will. Hot water - lay it on a paper towel - lay another paper towel over it - press down with the palm of your hand - move to the side on the paper towel a little and repeat - Like I mentioned before, if needed put it in the freezer to shrink farther

not to hijack dvirdone's thread but I have the same issue (must be spring cleaning time). My Honda is older 86 TRX 350 which has a fuel pump. Here is my question- the manual gives me a float height (which is off, low about .200) how do I set that on an all plastic float? Everything I've every worked on had a metal tab to bend for this setting. Follow up is what would have changed over the winter, it worked great when I parked it??</end quote></div>

Check the end of the float valve where it contacts the float. If it is the spring loaded type, the spring inside the float needle may be bad and float valve need replacement. Also inspect the tab on the float where the float valve contacts for wear. another place to look is for wear on the float where the pivot pin passes through. Float and valve may need to be replaced.
If you still have an issue of the measurement of float being to far away from the carb bowl mating base (where measured from) The golf tee trick I mentioned above may remove tarnish in the seat which is throwing the measurement off. If the measurement is loe, the tip of the needle may also be worn

Default Carb Cleaning

I'm sure you've probably done more in a month than I will in a lifetime...

Thanks I'll try the golf tee trick! I should have said that I put a new valve in when I cleaned the carb even though the old one looked fine. If that doesn't work I'll be trying to find one of you for an overhaul!!
