you can but it probably won't do you any good to do so. Actually i'm not even sure y they put a shutoff on it, since its fuel injected the gas can't just leak into anything like they could on a carb operated machine. On your bike there is a fuel pump and i think, i'm not sure on it, but it should be like a car or pickup even with the switch off if everything is good there will be pressure in the line between the pump and the injector so shutting the fuel off that goes to the pump will do absolutely nothing.

EFI Rincon doesn't have a fuel shut-off... which makes taking the tank off to adjust the valves a bit of a pain...

I haven't thought to look at a Rancher, but I would have assumed it would be the same.

I wonder if pumping against a shut valve on the supply side could damage the injection pump, and if so, if that was the reason for no shut off valve. Generally electric fuel injection type pumps also don't like to be repeatedly run dry, so having a low fuel light instead of reserve would make sense, too...

It does indeed have a fuel shutoff, on the right side. Do not shut it off and run it until it is dry! It has a fuel pump, and it is going to be hard on the pump if you run it dry!

I use Klotz Octane Booster, which has a fuel stabilizer and an ester synthetic lube for the top end (and fuel pump), and I have hand no problems with gummed up carbs or fuel injection, on any of my 9 quads and bikes since I started using it.

Yes you can turn it off and Ive never seen a gas prime button on it (correct me if I'm wrong), ITS EFI and Nahh just leave it alone and don't worry about it.

Maybe Honda learned something from when they built the EFI Rincon...

I'm going to add a gas shutoff valve to mine, if for no other reason than not getting gas everywhere when you have to take the tank off for service.

Also yes the OFF works! Back in the days when I use too turn the **** on my 420 to the OFF position I would forget to turn it back ON and ride the bike since some fuel is still in the fuel line and it will shut off on you for sure lol. I don't mess with it no more and leave it on all the time.

On a carb equipped bike that does not have a vacuum operated petcock I always recommend shutting the gas off after a riding session.

If it's going to be laid up more than a week or so, I've also found running the float bowl dry (or draining it) makes it hugely easier to start next time.

On EFI, though, I don't think you need to worry about it. The fuel in the EFI's system isn't exposed to air as it is in a carb float bowl, which greatly reduces it's tendency to go stale, form varnish and so on...
