One main reason that they stoped production was becasue the trx125 was one of Hondas biggest bo-bo's.The machines were just plain junk.The frame was brittle and was way underpowered. Just the thought of another innocent moron! HondaManMyers over and out.

Ok, I didn't want to say this in a Honda Forum, But I OWNED that LT-125 ; {I did see a LT125 84 model barely out pull a TRX125 86 model on dirt. They both had same top end speed, which the suzuki LT-125 was clocked at 45 (out ran a 40mph Honda Mopad).}
I'm here to tell you I out ran (NOT by far) a Honda 50cc Mopad, she was on pavement I was next to it on Grass. Your Speedometer said 40 & it topped out on 40, I was maybe about 4 atv length's ahead. I figure it was no more than 45mph. I also barely out pulled that TRX on dirt, him in Super Low, me in Power Low. We also raced & ran neck to neck.
Both were TOUGH little machines, I prefered the LT over the TRX cause LT was 4 down 1 up, TRX was 4 up 1 down. Plus from my knees down had to angle back to reach the foot pegs on the TRX, the LT it was straight down (felt more comfortable).
It was my 13th birthday & I could have got the LT-185 which had front shocks (damn me)

You say the 125 honda was in low.What? It didn't have high and low. My gears were like this:

4
3
2
1
N
R

Guys i now know where we are getting confused. Mine was the utility version and had the squared off utility plastic. The sportier version was more rounded. I agree it would be faster. Which one are you guys talking about?

The TRX is 4 up 1 down, meaning 1 down was super low, lower gearing than 1st.

My atc125m had high and low range, there was a lever near the countershaft sproket where you could change gear ratios.

My friend has an '86 trx 125...there is no way they go 20MPH, more like 40mph, my dad followed him and he was going well over 20 in his truck.

His 125 is the biggest piece of junk ever, he has replaced gears about 4 times, re-built it at least 4 times, and there is always something wrong with it, he maintains it well too.

The 125's have the same wheelbase as the 200SX's.
