I really need a new four-wheeler, and I'm thinking about getting something sporty, but not too expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about getting a 250EX so I could have power and a little fun, but I'm not too sure.........

I think you should get a Yamaha blaster they are fast and are really cheap

Sounds like you need a 250EX. But for so much cheeper you can get a 250X which is what I have and I absolutely love it. If you want a newer trail bike get the 250EX but if you want more power, performance and speed get the 250X. The 250EX has olmost the same engine as the recon.

I just got my 250EX and Ilove it, it's plenty fast and sporty, and just think with the auto clutch it's ideal for trail riding more time for fun. and with the 250ex you get a low maintance atv, no chain to worry about. I almost bought a recon but I was like you and wanted something sporty. just my 2cents.

We have one...

It is a great machine! the most rider friendly sport-quad I know... it's light and powerful

I can still pull the front wheels off the ground in 3rd gear!

I'm going to reverse the front wheels on ours for a wider stance and less bouncy front end, but other than that, I'm not changing a thing...

I still has an air-snorkel like the Recon too...

I've been jumping 4' jumps with it and not bottoming out, and I'm 195lbs.

i would get a yamaha blaster, kawasaki mojave, or honda 250X over a 250EX. all the quads are slighlty more or slightly less than the EX so don't worry abotu spending to much.

Alright, I'm definatly the most qualified to answer this question. Like you, I have a Recon and need something sprotier. I researched the 250EX very extensivly (see my post "HELP! Is the 250EX for me?") and ended up finding out that for the kind of riding I do, the 300EX is better suited for me. I'm only 5'8" and 110 pounds. I do mostly MX and trail riding, and the 250EX's suspension isn't enough for that kind of riding. You can buy a used 300 cheaper than the new 250EX and the 300 has alot more hop-ups for it if your into that kind of thing. Now don't get me wrong here, the 250EX is an awsome quad, I went and test rode it at the dealer and it had alot more power than the recon, but the 300 was just more impressive, hope i can help.

here's what I'd say...

the 300EX is now obsolete...

if you want a great trail quad get a 250EX, with an auto clutch and easy to use reverse...

if you want to ride MX, the choice is simple, get the 400EX, which is still a blast to ride on the trails also

I agree with DSAPP, if you won't a trail friendly bike get the 250ex, I've had mine a week and love the auto clutch. It's also plenty fast for me and I'M 5'9 and 220 lbs,but it is a lot lighter in the front end so be careful till you learn how it handles.
