Rancher 420 in/out 4 wheel
The owner's manual isn't really clear on whether you need to stop to go in or out of 4wd, but I will always stop unless it is an emergency and I need to get into 4wd really quick. It seems like the quad needs to move a couple feet before the 4wd light will go out....but needing to back up...no.

I don't remember anything specific in the manual either, but the dealer did say to me when I bought my Rancher that you should come to a stop and put the machine in Neutral before moving the lever. I've been doing this and the green LED that indicates 4x4 always goes on or off within a foot of forward movement or so.
Has anyone else heard this? Recon - do you put it in neutral before shifting?
