Lift Kits on rancher
#11
I would definantly not recommend installing a lift kit, all they do is put the suspension at full drop all the time, so like said above the front CV's and the rear U-joint in the rear shaft are working at max angles not what they were designed for.
I just had a rear ujoint/yolk failure (no lift) and its an expensive fix since it bent the engine output shaft, and cracked the engine case. Installing a lift only increases the probability of such a failure.

I agree with the last guy installing a lift destroys the ridability of your quad. I have/had a 2 inch lift on my 2005 rancher with 25 inch kenda executioners. With the lift I could flex into rocks and holes like before, I couldnt hardly stand regular bumps because all the lift does it reduce suspension travel. And like said before because of the new angle of your CV shafts etc, it can cause you to lock up going through a mud hole and can cause significant loss of power, and lots of expensive breaks.

I have often contemplated putting a lift on my rancher but for reasons that these guys have already stated i opted NO, if you ever ride hills @ an angle or on the side you will pay the consequences for having a lift they be come unstable bc the COG is off, wheel spacers will hel but noot that much, its just not a good idea, i can go anywhere or through anythng a lifted quad can and do it much safer..... Just sayin, its your bike tho.

2" lift on my 420 destroyed the axles. The shaft rubs the inside of the inner cup & ring. 1:it creates metal slivers that are bad for the bearings. 2: once the inner ring is gone the bearings & axle will separate. I'm not sure if after market axles prevent this from happening, but i'm not going to chance it. I'm gonna remove the lift.
