Default Oil Leak 2001 Rubicon 500 Hondamatic

I've been having problems with my bike (I think electrical.......am in the middle of troubleshooting it) and now that I have all the plastic off my bike I see a considerable amount of oil that appears to be blowing out of the water pump where it mounts to the case. Is this simply that I need to replace the o-ring that mounts the water pump to the engine? I know that it is only a couple of dollars, but before I order the o ring and tear the pump off, I want to know if this is the probable location for the oil to be leaking from.

Thanks!

There are 3 o'rings (2 on the antifreeze pipe , 1 where the waterpump is driven off the camshaft) and they are easy to cut when replacing the waterpump .. We keep several of each in stock because they are very easy to cut .. They go together easier with grease on the o'rings ..

But would this cause oil to leak out and run down the front of the engine case?

Yes ... If it's oil then it is the large o'ring .. If anti-freeze is leaking down the clutch cover then it's 1 of the small o'rings ..

Perfect! The picture clears it up for me too....I'm in the process of getting a manual, so I didn't have that to reference.

Thanks!
