with that 40 over 5 months ago it should still last years from now, there durable bikes...some have lasted 10 years easy before needing rebuilt.

How long they last depends an awful lot on good warm ups, how you ride and how well you keep up with maintenance. It isn't hard to replace a piston and rings, might as well freshen them up before they let go cause that costs $$$.

A buddy of mines has a 250r and it suys on the stock gas tank plastic to mix it 20:1 but he just uses ams interceptor at 50:1 and it runs great. They can be as reliable as the way you build them and ride them. They do need 1-2 quarts of tranny fluid (DO NOT USE CAR OIL!!) car oil will make your clutch slip. I believe they recomend 80w motorcycle tranny fluid. They use gas, but not as bad as my banshee of corse and with a good rebuild and aftermarket pipe, they can be pretty quick.

depending on your riding every month or so would be good if you ride hard and often, mostly preference some people change gear oil every week some people every season.

Well if your clutch discs disinigrate, you might wana change the tranny fluid. You don't need to change the tranny fluid oftin because the oil is not subjected to the high cylinger wall temperatures like four strokes oils, so it lasts longer in two strokes. I haven't had to change the tranny fluid in my banshee yet (2years) and it hasn't darkened up or broken down yet.
