Is that just the stock rubber piece coming out of the air box?

Hondas have breather pipes running from the diff(s), brake backplates and carburettor that run up to the area round the fuel tank so water can't get in. If you want to go deeper than this you need these pipes to be longer, as well as the air intake snorkel.

Default few quick questions

One question I have is what year is your Recon. I'd like to know. How good does the quad do in deep mud and water. My 2002 Recon will get in the creeks but then die at one certain point in the creek that can get me to my favorite trail. My question about that is is the water there isn't but maybe half a foot deep. What could be my problem there. I never go out anywhere longer than 30 minute ride without filling it up. None of my other bikes that I take out just to ride ( which includes my 300ex, the 350 Rancher 4x4, and the 350 Rancher Es ) do this at all in this creek. What could be wrong with my quad. This is really strange. I guess this really wasn't a few "quick" questions.

There is one line on the carb, one line from the differential and one line from the rear brake. If you run these lines up the snorkel everything will work properly. The only one left is the carb over flow, or the tube on the very bottom. just put a screw or a golf tee in it.

If it dies, just give it throttle. or let it cool down before entering deep water.

I did almost the exact same on mine except I added 2 flex joints for easy removal, a cap to seal it and kept it a single and have had no problems! Mine will stand up in water and just go!
Hint:if you have to jump off in deep water it will completely float on 26" swamp lites
