I never use a torque wrench for tighting any bolts never needed one , what i do is use a 1/4" ratchet to tighten for small bolts and a 3/8" ratchet for tighting the oil drain plug i just palm the ractchet's , i've never stripped a fastener this way i guess it helped me because i worked yard and garden equipment for over 20 yrs so i have alot of exsperous ; i learned this methiod after seeing equipment with stripped bolt holes on equipment brought to me that someone else didn't know how much strentch they had .

Oh and about the oil filter if it's got the automtive spin on type you just need to hand tighten it the way you do on car or truck , this is also recomended methiod for the manufacturers instructions on the spin on type filters !

As long as you palm the ratchet it's not a problem them tightened with out stripping the fastners , i just don't trust a torque wrench for soft aluminum these engines use ; however if you're not exsperious with this methiod you should wait for someome else do it for you !......wiliebee..........
