I just bought a '95 300 ex that has been sitting in a building for about five years. It appears that it is in fair shape. I started it and it won't run under quarter throttle and when it does it is very rough and smokes alot. I have already went through to carb and that helped a very little bit. I also adjusted the valves and that helped a very little bit, but it is still running very bad!!!!!!! Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

 

sounds like the pilot jet is still clogged. did you dump the gas out and fill with new high test gasoline? the smoke might get better once you get it running properly and the rings get set and lubed.

 

I did dump the gas and replace it with high test. I will check the pilot again but I am fairly sure that it is clear. Thanks for your quick reply! Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
