Default 98 Recon Hanging Idle issue

Hello all, I have a 1998 250 Recon, completely stock. The bike ran fine when bought but the valves were tapping. I found online some instructions on adjusting the valves and that went smoothly, (though since I've gone back and checked to be sure nothing changed, and can't quite get it back on the T mark)each time I checked they were still correct.
At the same time I decided to pull the carb and clean it. It was really clean to my suprise but I went ahead and "shined" it up some anyway because of having it off.
The bike runs good and all but now, once it has been riden for a bit and warms up, the rpm's want to hang up some when letting off the throttle. Sometimes it takes 5-6 seconds or longer before it drops to normal. I dont like having the rpms up like this when changing gears on this semi-auto.
I can hear the slide bottom out inside the carb as soon as I turn loose the thumb piece, so I know it isn't sticking. I've adjusted the carb screws per instructions that also came from the net. Which had them in practicly the same postition they were already in.
See, the idle only hangs when the bike has warmed up and not for the first 3-4 minutes of running.
Has anyone else ran into something similar or know what I can check? Thanks

Went back and checked the valves for the umptenth time and reset them at .006 instead of .005. Rode her around for about 10 minutes and didn't have the warm high idle issue, at least for now (keeps fingers crossed)
Thanks for your words of advice, it was helpful.

If it continues, I'd suspect an air leak in the intake manifold. Also check that the enricher is working properly.
