this is my brother in laws bike. it wont start. when the problem started he would mash the shift as if going in neutral and it would start. now you can hit the starter button and all i can hear is a click. the round object under the seat (solenoid?) is whats clicking. i tried to jump it like on an old car to no avail. tried touching starter with hot and it didnt do anything,

what should i try or do?

 

Sounds like a bad battery or selenoid. Batteries go bad all the time, selenoids rarely, so that should tell you something.

It should still push start.....
