2002 Rincon Engine Noise
#1
Hey all,
My Rincon has recently started making an engine noise from time to time, best as I can describe is like a clanging noise. Most noticeable at idle and not there all the time. Also like it momentarily misses its timing or something......kinda hard to explain, but if you experienced it, I'm sure you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
Any suggestions?
Darryl

Hey JeffinTD,
Was actually talking with a local shop Last evening and the tech there said the same thing. Long story short, pulled the tensioner last night, everything seemed fine, but however I did take note that the tensioner had changed position when I re-installed. Fired her up and all seems good. Didn't realize these tensioners were an issue but he was telling me he has seen several Rincon engines ruined by the tensioner sticking, then the chain slaps, breaks the tensioner off and all goes to hell.
Anyway, thanks for the reply ... hopefully that got it.

Since you have determined a flakey tensioner was causing your problem, and since it is not an expensive part and is easy to change... I think I'd go ahead and replace it.
Anyway, glad you got it figured out, and welcome to the forum.
