Well the only way you should put these 2 Atv's in the same sentence is if reverse is an issue if it is not the 400ex is what you want. Not that the warrior is not any good but you said you wanted speed and the ex is much faster and is a great handling quad.
I am a polaris person but I am sure you will get the same responces from everyone else.
Good luck on your purchase.

Have a good one

I don't have a bike yet but my neighbor just got a warrior. Two days after he bought it he rode a 400ex. He said he bought the wrong one.
I'm not gonna make that mistake. His is still fun to ride though

Here is what made my decision.

If you want to go fast on trails and jump real high and far, and climb some nice sized hills buy a 400ex.

If you just want to kinda lazy ride a trail and not go really fast, or do much jumping, get the warrior.

The 400ex will be many times greater than the warrior in everything except reversing.

Without a question the honda youll be much more satisfied besides if you should have to get off and push it ( because no reverse ) youll be so far in front of the warrior that they' never see you push it anyway that is unless you tell them. You'll love the honda without a question its a better bike.

Man not even a question. Riding a 400 then switching to a Warrior would be like going from crack rock to cigarettes. Warrior is 10 year old + technology, low reving, heavy, slow, narrow. Day and night brother...

In order to be considering a warrior over a 400EX you must be looking at reverse.Well I'm here to tell ya you dont need it. I just went through the same thing with the reverse thing.Well i'm glad to tell ya I just got a 400EX (yellow)and when you know you dont have reverse you dont get your self
in to stupid binds as much and when ya get good you just punch it and turn around!
Let us know what ya get!!!
