My Son's 2007 recon seemed to develop a bit of a problem yesterday. Here's a little background. We snorkeled the thing for him for Christmas. 2 1/2 Pipe. He doesn't go that deep, but he thought it would look cool. The snorkel works great and definately looks cool.

Yesterday was our first long ride since snorkeling the bike. He had ridden it some since snorkeling, but not alot. A couple of hours into the ride, the bike sputtered and died. I immediately looked in the airbox to find it dry. No water, mud or anything else. It cranked up just fine and idled great with no choke at all. As soon as he would give it some gas it would start sputtering again, sometimes dying. It would always immediately crank. he rode it back to the truck, it died several times always cranking immediately.

Any ideas, rejet maybe?

 

Does it run with the choke pulled out a ways? If so it is running lean.

Maybe you have an air leak some where when installing the snorkel. Is the snorkel before the air filter or after?

 

No it won't run at all with the choke pull all the way. It will still run if I barely pull it out, but not much. It is snorkeled before the filter. At first I thought we may have a leak , there was no water or even mooisture in the airbox.

I would say maybe, by moving the carb around, taking the air box off; you have knocked some gunk loose and plugged something in the carb! Maybe a good cleaning, if this hasn't been done for awhile.

Check to make sure the fuel shut-off isn't closed or partially closed!

 

Almost for sure a blocked jet - open up the bowl on the bottom of the carb (easier to take off the air box first) then clean everything with carb cleaner -- unscrew the 2 jets and make sure they are clean allways.
After you could run some SeaFoam through a tank of gas to clean things up
