Default 04 Rancher 400 AT can't shift lever into Drive

Hello, my shift lever was difficult to shift into Drive without a grinding gears sound. If I had it it Reverse it was almost impossible to shift out of Reverse to Neutral then into Drive without shutting off the engine. Now it does not want to shift into Drive at all. Is there a linkage adjustment for this, or the angle shaft sensor, or is this a bigger problem. Thanks.

The shaft for the sub-transmission corrodes where it passes thru the aluminum case ..

Idle speed could be to high causing hard shifting and grinding.

The idle speed is high at times. I will try to correct that. It fluctuates when in neutral trying to put in Drive. Will also check the shaft where it enters the aluminum housing for corrosion. Thanks for your help.
