05 500FE engine problems
GUYS I NEED HELP!!!! my daughter has a 2005 trx500fe with 1300miles on it. it was turn over in a 4ft deep mud hole. oil and all fluids have been changed. the engine was smoking real bad. i pulled the head and cylinder and there was no wear in the cylinder. we howned the cylinder and installed new ring set. i ran it the first day after that and it ran great with no smoke. the next day it was smoking just as bad as before,i also changed the oil again and this made it worse. it smokes so bad you can't see 20ft behind it now.
only thing i can figure is guides and seals in the head,HONDA shop says they don't have a clue.
any ideas?

You say it didnt smoke the first day you rebuilt it, but did smoke the second day.
On the second day did it start smoking gradually or did it start immediately? Also, are there any abnormal engine sounds?
I ask because this issue you are having sounds to me like a bent connecting rod. Which is very common on the Honda OHV engines that get dunked. They will wear through a set of new rings in no time flat.

If it sucked water into the intake while running a bent rod is a possibility.
If it sucked mud into the oil, the grit is down in every passage and behind every bearing, waiting to flow into the engine as the oil gets hot. The only for-sure cure is complete disassembly of the engine, and replacement of the oil cooler.
