Default 300ex kick start

Just to have a plan B to a dead battery, can I put a clutch cover and kick start lever off of a 250x onto a 300ex? Surely someone has done this? thanks

Too much work. Better to roll it down a hill and pop the clutch.

What about when you're in the woods, not near a hill?

Start pushing... or have someone pull you.... As long as your machine's engine is in good condition... it should not take much...

So has anybody done this though? It doesn't seem like that much work.

Well... you can search it out on the internet... here's one link i found...
ATV Riders Forum - 300ex help!!!
They discuss it as well... Seems like a lot of work to get something you may use one a year... But google "putting a kickstart on a 300ex" and you will get some results...

Never heard of it being done but I suppose anything is possible. I know that there are gears inside a 250X that aren't in a 300ex so you'll need those. I'd go to DGY or some other place that has exploded views of each and see what you're up against. But, in my opinion, you'd be better off making sure your battery is kept charged. And why would a battery suddenly go dead on the trail? And if it did, you can jump it with another machine. Unless you ride alone. So, here's what I see.
1. If it is possible to put a kick on it, it will cost you lots of money AND time
2. If the battery goes dead on the trail (not likely) you have 2 options. Jump it or push start it. Both of these cost nothing.

Well it does happen... it happened to my cousins 300ex on Sunday... tho we are not sure why... could be the fault of something else not charging it.. but we just gave it a push and it fired up..

but back to the original subject... it does seem like a lot of work...

Yea after reading that link, it is too much work. And the reason my battery might go dead is I just put a winch on it.

ng put a fourtraxtrx300 side cover on with the kickstart from the trx300 on the ex and call it a day
You will have to bend the brake pedal slightly but it will work your case cover will stick out a lil bit further
