400 ex repair guide/oil leak
I need some help fixing my quad. I'm a diy kinda guy and don’t want to spend the money taking it to the shop.
Here is the issue: my chain was too loose and came off the rear sprocket.
It bound in the front sprocket and when I got it loose, the gear shifter appeared to be broken. Looking at the problem from the outside, there is a hole where oil has leaked out. The hole is below the front sprocket. Now his is why I say the gear shifter seems broken. From the outside it looks fine, but when I move the shifter with my hand it is loose and the hole has a metal piece sticking out that looks like it might have been a pivot point (on the inside of trans) for the shifter.
Questions: 1. Does anyone know how big of a project this will be? what will it take to fix?
2. Does anyone know where to find a good service manual? exploited view of components?

Most of the gearshift assy on the bike is inside the center crankcases .. You could do it yourself if you have tools , the flywheel should be pulled using a Honda puller ..
There is a post that centers the gearshift .. see the arrow in the picture ..
