Exclamation Buying a 2000 Rancher 350 ES

Hi guys, I've been offered to buy a 2000 Honda Rancher 350ES for cheap here in Monterrey Mexico, I'm really new to the ATV scene, I'm a 2 wheel guy but I'm buying the ATV for long trips with a lot of river crossings and mudding... (or a buddy ride)

Is there any well known problems for this machine? Or should I just completely avoid it?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!

welcome to the forums! i don't recall any major issues with that machine. I do know that early electric shift models had electronic failure issues, but the toolkit should have a backup manual foot shifter in it. i do not have any experience with this machine personally, but good luck!

I only ride Hondas because you cant kill them. One of my Army buds has a 90s model 350 and swears by them. If it hasnt been abused you should ride it for a long time. Bring it to a shop and get it serviced after you buy it and ensure it will be ready for the trails.

Thanks guys!! Well, we went to see the machine and aestetically was in really poor shape, broken plastics, missing pieces and missing cables (brake levers and all) wiring was everywhere! and it had the manual shifting already in place along with a made up steel cable to pull "something" under the engine... The thing started just fine though! It roared perfectly! I can see now what you mean by being reliable, it looked like it went to hell AND BACK , but maybe I can still shop around for a newer model... I made a quick list of fixes and it amounted to more that I want to spend for this bike.

Thanks for the welcoming and for the quick response!
