From another thread:
And they didn't understand what I was confused about??
I got confused about is it a pilot JET or a pilot screw like this diagram shows.
I was looking for the 'pilot jet'.

.
Actually this is what confused me. I saw 'pilot' and unscrewed that pilot screw. Then, realized it was OR slow. so, I put the pilot screw back in, no I don't know how many turns, but it looked like it went back in to the depth it was. THEN took out the 'slow jet' and cleaned it.
uggg...
Main was simple and I did clean it good.
Actually that was 2 or 3 weeks ago and I've slept since then. I do know that we cleaned two jets.
I'm not sure I understand what you got confused about. The jet gets screwed in tight. The needle is what you adjust. The main jet has no needle. The pilot has a needle that you adjust.

But, anyway, if you don't count the number of turns you unscrew the pilot needle (most call it the pilot jet but it is actually a needle that is going in & out of the pilot jet), and it's not what the manual says (or close) the motor won't run good
Just the pilot or slow, and main.

ALRIGHTY! We be riding big circles on the Honda now! haha..
I took it off, took to a mechanic friends shop, and I dunno..some plunger thingy was hung up. We took it off, cleaned it. took the part that had the diaphragm cover off, cleaned all in there. Diaphragm looked brand new btw.
put it back on voila..purrs like a new one.
Next: tires..front are bald..gonna have to just replace those.
Rears are really good tread but got some leaks cause they let em sit flat for so long. Thinking I might just take em and have tubes put it? Reckon?
Air filter also. that old ones gone.

Alrighty, got the new filter on today. And, the fuel line split so I replaced it. Thing RUNS beautifully. Sounds real good.
Now on movement:
#1: gotta get 2 new front tires, those are bald. I'm having a booger of a time gettin any 23 x 8.5-11. SO expensive, they are backordered at a local Honda store as well. Any other outlets you guys use for tires? I was looking at some from a private person but I'm not comfortable sending a check. It's several thousand miles from me.
#2: Tread on rears is fine, really good. Looks new. But...they let it set flat for awhile so it has some cracks in the sidewall where it was flat. I'm thinking for right now, I'll tube those. Think that's ok? Yes, eventually they'll need to replaced, but one thing at a time here.
#3: Brakes, Well, they don't 'hang' but they do screek when you come to a stop. And they are very tight when you pull the brake in. I don't think they are engaged or I"d smell em and it would pull to one side..I'd think.
#4: Left rear wheel wobbles a little when it moves. ain't figured this one out yet. Under the back end where the rim attaches to the rear axle, the center of the rim looks sorta rounded out and irregular. there is some play in that wheel as well.
Other than that! I think we're good for the time being as we restore this lil beauty.

Good to hear. I get all my rims and tires from ATV Parts, Motorcycle Parts, Motocross Gear, KTM Dealer | Magic Racing but they don't have any utility tires I don't think. Search atv tires on the net and a billion companies will come up, look through them and try to find something you like. Oem tires are always more expensive than aftermarket. You should be able to get 2 for the price of one oem tire almost and that's with shipping. Also you can get tires already mounted on rims so all you need to do is inflate them and go. Changing atv tires are a real pain cause the bead is really tight on the rim most car tire shops will change them. Tubes are o.k. As far as the wobbly rear tire, you may need to tighten the large axle nut a bit. Take the cotter pin out, tighten the axle nut a bit and reinstall the pin and see if that helps. The splines on the hubs wear and sometimes need to be tightened. If the lugnuts worked themselves loose then the holes can get rounded out.

I found some but nothing priced really good. I was shocked to find out that my local Honda dealer can order em for $75 a piece. They said they were OEM..I dunno, I can't remember or pronounce the name anyway.

That'd be even better and I wouldn't have to pay 6 bucks a piece to have them mounted.
Tubes are o.k.
Took it to one tire place and he said even though the tire tread was still really good, the deep cracks in the tire were too deep. That the tire walls would be weak and pop the tube, or something like that. Actually, one tire is holding up good. I put sealant in it, and a piece of duct tape on the sidewall..now how redneck is that?

I did just that and I think it's fixed. Haven't put the back tire back on cause replacing it. Didn't think I'd have a socket big enough or enough elbow grease to get that thing off. But, I got my big torque wrench and found the socket I have for the hot water heater drain on our rv fits that axle nut perfect. Have to get a new cotter now.

I found some on Craigs list but they were in Michigan and I'm in Tennessee.
Trail Wolf brand, so I think they're good ones. Shipping was pricey, so check this out...one of my best buds lives 1 hour away from her. But, he was coming through her area on a trip, met her, got the tires, now in two weeks his father in law who lives near me, is going up for a vist. So, he'll bring those back to me! How crazy is that?
They were new, still have tags on em..she bought the wrong sizes and can't get her $$ back on them, I got 3 for $75.00.
Have a backup in case one pops.
Now, just trying to get a good deal on those rears.

Good to hear, pretty cool how sometimes things fall into place like that. After searching for tires it looks like e-bay may be a good source. I am used to paying around 300.00 for a set of 2 with rims so the prices I saw didn't seem bad like this one, but they don't offer it in a kit. ( 2 bear claws for 105.00 )TWO NEW KENDA BEAR CLAW ATV TIRES 6 PLY 25X12-9 : eBay Motors (item 120609538717 end time Aug-22-10 11:49:55 PDT) Also search your local craigslist people are always upgrading their tires and sometimes you can find factory takeoffs in exel. cond. for cheap. Or you could put a want to buy ad on craigslist, Someone may have changed thier's and the tires are just taking up space.
