changes cluth side gasket and now it wont stay running. When I pulled off the cover there was what looked like a half inch metal clynder with a rubber o-ring on it. I put it where i thought it went. any ideas?

That sounds like the oil pump tube. Only one spot for it. Near the front in a hole. Shouldn't cause it to not run unless you're saying it runs for like 5 minutes and then dies. If that's the case I guess it could get so hot it shuts down. You could do damage too if you didn't put it in the right spot. It's a hole on the engine side, not the cover you take off, and it's toward the front about 4" up from the bottom of the engine. Been a long time since I had one like yours apart so I could be wrong. Did you ever get a manual? Did you ever get your chain adjusted? Take it slow and do it right and you've got a good quad there.

thanks for the info. I just ordered a manual yesterday and still havent got the chain tightened. I dont know if it is just old and stretched or not. Going to wait until I get the book so I can do it right.

Thanks again
