300 fourtrax clicky front end!
Ok well I got my fourtrax back together and the front shafts are pretty darn noisy when I turn on pavement... its a 1992 it's got new bearings in the front and I pulled a bad boot back and regreased it and put it back together.. with that said... the shafts are worn for sure.. should I even give a rats *** until they actually crap out?? Have any of you other guys just run your shafts knowing they were toast.. if so did they last a long time? I just dont wanna put any money into this thing really if I can just run it the way it is..it wont be used all that much...and the noise doesnt bother me cuz I know what the issue is. What do ya think?
Ohh yeah stock brake pads on the front and this thing stops like a CHAMP!!!

if it is making noise, then metal to metal bad stuff is happening being said, one day it will crap out on you and fall out. if you don't use the 4x4 take them off, if you do, then yep get new ones. but if you leave them on, you don't know when they will bust off so here is a picture for you, your riding down your favorite trail, and poof one of them do come off and bust you and your ride all up, now you being pulled back because your a arms are bent to hell hope this helps

It's not as costly as it was ten years or even two years ago to replace front drive axles. CPI now has them for both sides of the 300 Hondas (any year model) and they go for 150$ per side. Very good price considering you get everything from the diffferential outward to the nut that hold the wheel on. It's the entire axle (with the boots) and its easy to install. So $300 would do both sides of yours and have you back in 4x4 in no time.

so for a temp fix can I just take off the front shafts at the knuckles?? How are the knuckles under the boots held together..? If the boots are off and the shafts are gone do I need to worry about water and crap getting into my diff and or the wheel bearings?? Prolly stoopid questions but needed LOL thanx
