colorado trip..your thoughts needed
Guys, i just learned (reminded) that i'm going to have some problems with my four wheelers running right in the higher altitudes. didn't think of this till just now and we leave tomorrow morning.....
so, i'm reading a bit on this. since it is a only a three day trip, you think i could get by without rejetting?
elevation now is 755ft. we are going to colorado at elevation 8208ft (cabin base).
I have two different four wheelers; a 2006 250recon ES, and a borrowed trx450fe2 (not sure yr).
never planned on taking four wheelers, but broke foot over the weekend and have to have way to get around up there.
any little information you could give me would be helpfull.

If both machines are stock re jetting is NOT necessary! Tho dont expect your machines to run like they do where you live. If there are any exhaust mods done to either bike re jetting will be a MUST! At 8000 ft altitude your 250 will feel more like a 125 to give you an example of what to expect!

Your 450 will probably feel like a 125 as well assuming you will be riding above the cabin elevation of 8000. If you could rejet I would if you can't at least empty your gas tank and refill when you get there a high altitude blend is used there and it will help. The first time I went there I didn't rejet and used fuel from home about 12000' was the limit and that was tough going. Next time I jetted and used the local fuel and made it to the top of Mt. Antero over 14000 but don't get me wrong I didn't set any speed records. That was on a 500 Honda Rubicon. No matter what have fun.
