need help with rear end in rancher 420 2009

Is it something you are using a bearing puller?

Can you post a photo?

well i got the lock nut and ring stopper out but the needle bearing will not come out, and when we got lock nut out it stripped the threads so i think at this point i am just going to order new rear end

Maybe you could find a good used one?

just ordered a new rear end so hope that fixes the problem

still waiting for the new rear end guys, as soon as get it and install it i will let you know what happens

i just got a new 09 Rancher 420, althought mine is auto and IRS,
whats your email? i wish i knew other locals to ride with, im in norcal.
I hope you get your atv fixed dude.

Default 420 Rear Diff

Did you ever figure out what was causing your issues with your rear end? It is the pinion bearing going out. We have (4) of these and all we do is work on the rear ends. There is no way to keep the mud and water out of the rear end on these and it takes the pinion bearing out. I continue to try different things like seals, turning seals around and now I am going to try a few more things. I can't believe Honda has such a problem child for nearly 10 years when they are such a reliable machine. If anyone has any ideas or remedies to keep the water & mud from getting past the pinion seal, I would sure appreciate it!!!

I assume since this was almost 5 years ago, that he probably doesn't have it anymore. I have heard bad things about the Rancher 420 rear ends. I'm glad I never bought one. The 350 had less power but it would run forever.
