so i tore the carb apart put the rebuild kit in it, and it still running like $#!T... so i popped my GF's 300ex carb off plopped it on my 250x... and guess what..??? it ran like a friggin top. so i am going to say the my carb is JUNK... even though i know its not, im just sick of messing with a mechanical object thats going on 24 years old... so i ordered a nice looking carb from ebay off a 300ex along with a new fuel shut off valve for the gas tank... and some REALLY nice 87 fenders with the 250x graphics on them. so now my 250x is a nostalgic dream come true... i hope anyways. i will post more when i get my parts, maybe even a picture.... thanks again for the help

 

I had that same problem with a riding mower. I had my carb off and cleaned it about 5 times and rebuilt it with all new parts and still it wouldn't run good. So, I borrowed a carb from a guy with the same motor and it worked perfectly. I don't get it. I know my carb was sqeeky clean but it just wouldn'rt run. Oh well. Some things we'll never know the answer to I guess.
