Default abused honda

I have a 2003 honda foreman that I have not been kind to. I use it on the farm, so it has many operators, and even though I have given instructions to be gentle, it rarely happens. It has about 10,000 miles on it, and I love the machine. I know it has age and miles against it, but it is now not shifting unless I turn it off and on when it gets warmed up. I think it is the angle sensor, but now I can not get it into fourwheel drive. I really need this. the Light on the dash light comes on but nothing happens, any clue will help me.

Make sure you're getting power to the actuator, if you are it may be time for a new actuator.

Since I have very little work done on these machines am not sure where this may be at. I have looked on line to see if there are service manuals or repair manuals and I have found a couple but they don't mention where this is at

The Honda factory service manual is IMHO a good investment.

Shift wise, could be angle sensor, or I take it the change clutch adjustment hasn't been done in a long time.

Do you have an good battery? Did both problem start at the same time? Is your tire presure in spec,s..I know you just said HUH? sometimes these lock in and out fourwheel drive can have low tire or tires that will cause enagement failure, just make sure they are correct...I have had this before....Just an ideal...It has work for me servral times....

Is it getting 14+ volts when running at the battery
Is the 4x4 light blinking on and off
Is the battery good... start with those.
There's no reason the 450 should not get a life of 20,000-30,000 miles with a bit of care.

These machines are in the mud all the time changing water, and I have wet meadows that I flood irrigate. I am pleased that I have had so little problems with them. After four sets of tires and minor problems I don't know if any other kind of machine would do as well. Thanks for the info, I will take your advice and let you know how it goes.
