420 rancher vs 350 rancher
Hey everyone,
I have a 2006 4x4 rancher. I love the bike but was wondering if it was worth upgrading to a new/used 420? I mainly use mine for duck and deer hunting with a bit of trail riding tossed in.
My bike has pretty low hours for its age and i guess the major thing is it is paid off!
Just kinda wanted to get the opinions about what makes the new ones better etc. Would also consider a different honda as well.
Thank you

From what I have read....yes. More power, fuel injection, selectable 4wd...etc...You can also get it with an independent rear suspension and it has front disc brakes.
I went from a 05 Rancher 4x4 to a 07 Rubicon(mint condition) just over a year ago. I love it as it's automatic as well as ESP plus I got for a lot less than I could a 420. It had just 30 hours and less than 100 miles on it when I bought it and was just 2 year old when purchased. I did want a 420 however!
I have read that the 420 is a good trail machine as well.
There will be more posts that will give the virtues of owning a 420.

The 420 Rancher is a totally different animal than the previous Ranchers. Much more power and very snappy, and still a nimble and compact machine.
If your current Rancher is doing what you want, though, I'd say getting a 420 would be a want rather than a need.
Up to you if you want to spend the money.

Love them Ranchers!
I went from a 2005 Rancher 350ES to my new 2010 Rancher 420AT and although I loved my 2005 and it was paid off, I really love my Rancher 420AT. The IRS and EFI is great, and I like being able to switch from 2wd to 4wd on the fly. When I bought it, I didn't really care about power steering or the automatic transmission, but now that I have it, I wouldn't have it any other way. It's a great machine.

Upgraded wife's 350 for the 420 with power steering after she had rotator cuff surgery. The IRS and power steering make that machine so much better it's unbelievable. If I go out riding by myself I always take her machine. It comes down to how much money do you want to spend for more options.

There's nothing wrong with the 300, though.

I just bought a 2010 Rancher AT and love the thing. I've never owned a 350, but I can tell you that the IRS and fuel injection is awesome. I love the ride and my wife loves the fuel injection (no carbs for her to mess with) and the auto tranny. I shift it using the ES mode, but she uses the fully automatic mode. Add a ton of low-end torque, selectable shift on the fly 2WD/4WD and Honda reliability, and it all adds up to a great trail or work machine. We plan on plowing with ours this winter.
If you DO buy one, you'll love it. It's a great quad.
