Default Fuel Filter

Recently got a 1987 TRX350. Would run for a while, then for no reason die. Waited a few minutes, would run again, then die. Saw lots of complicated explanations online, but took the simplest route - changed the fuel filter. Cut it open and it looked like a ball of mud.

Now it runs great. Best explanation I can offer is that the filter was so clogged that it only allowed enough fuel through to allow it to idle.

I have seen fuel filters get clogged on cars and trucks before that they would idle fairly well then die when given more throttle.

That is the first thing to check when one has problems you described. Glad you got it running right with little expense!

Seeing how that quad is 24 years old, you may want to clean the tank and creem it or you may just keep clogging filters.
