Default Rincon spark plug question

Bought an '05 Rincon a few months ago with about 100 miles on it. Wouldn't start the other day. Pulled the plug and the center electrode looked like a pencil point. Is this a concern? Wondered if it is running too hot and might damage the cylinder. thanks!

I don't know what you mean by pencil point but if the center electrode is very small and to a point it more than likely has a platinum plug in it.

I would go back to a standard NGK plug if it was mine.

It is the standard plug. The picture in the manual shows a flat center electrode, and if rounded, it should be replaced. Mine looks like it has gone beyond rounded and has a point. Didn't check to see if it was sparking. Assumed it wasn't as I sprayed starter fluid in the carb and it fired once but that was it.

Got ya. Yes, if the plug is like that and the center electrode is rounded, it needs to be replaced.

Nothing really wrong with them. It's just the plats can't handle the fowling like a regular plug can. The regular plugs are much more forgiving.

LOL, that would be iridium plugs. Iridium plugs last a long time because they are hard and the metal does not wear away as fast as regular sparkplugs.
Do they make more power? No
Are they worth it? IMHO no.

Less voltage is required to jump between two sharp points than it does to jump between two round points which leaves more voltage to "flow" across the gap which in turn ignites more fuel.

An iridium tip spark plug will deliver a "crisper" spark for a longer period of time than conventional spark plug will because the center electrode retains a "point" far longer than the softer metals of lesser spark plugs.

You will need to replace “regular” spark plugs several times to retain the performance over time as one iridium tip plug will deliver.
