Thumbs up It's alive!

I torqued the head bolts down to 18lbs. Tossed the motor back in and kicked her over, started on the second kick. I let it idle for 15 min without revving high and shut it off (got late so I put it away for the night) I will repeat the cycle 5 more times before I start putting around on it with light load cycles. However there IS 2 problems, one the kick start lever makes a clicking ratchet noise unless you put pressure holding it forward besides for that it does not move at all. Second the bike does not idle correctly, I set the air/fuel screw to 2 turns out before I started it, and the idle screw is like 1/2 a turn out. You give it a light rev and it comes down to idle fine, however it only stays there for about 10 seconds or so before it cuts dies out and you have to give it a mini rev and the RPMs go up and come back down to idle for another 10 seconds or so before it cuts out again. Any ideas?

I kid you not I fixed the hole in the bottom of the case under the flywheel with a beer can and some JB weld, sold as a flucking rock!

I got the clutch and chain hooked up today and tried to do a heat cycle going half throttle on the new piston, but it does not even have enough power to take off in 1st gear! Idles fine but there must be too much blowby or something, I tested the compression and it holds at 115-120. I would think that would be enough to at least putt around, could the reeds have caused this? They are power reeds and a tad bit flared out (not closed fully) so since they seemed to be symmetrical I flipped them backwards and they now close all the way I figured it couldn't hurt.

I think I will be selling it as is.

Hmm that's weird, remember me saying how I couldn't even start off in first gear without it bogging out? Well I needed to test the tranny to sell the bike so I put it on a stool and ran it through all the gears (1/4 throttle) then decided maybe it was just a first gear problem and started on a slight down slope in second gear and it seemed to work, came back down into first drove around the yard came to a stop, gave the bike a push with my legs and it was able to start off in 1st. Drove it around some more and the power started to build after a minute it seemed fine so I continuously keeping it under 1/3 throttle broke it in shifting between 1st and second in the yard doing a loop. Part of the loop was an extremely steep paved driveway I kept creeping up in second (putting a load on the engine) and it seemed to gradually make it better, after about 15 minutes the top of the radiator was nice and hot to the touch so I put her away for the night to cool. Maybe it was an initial heat cycle I had to get those rings seated? We will see on the second heat cycle what it does next off the start.
