Default 400ex Car Wheels/Tires??

So I just got my 400ex not too long ago and I just put $600 worth of new wheels and tires on it. Well I have it lisenced and legalized to ride ON-ROAD but I don't wanna burn up my new tires driving on pavement. I also don't want to spend $500-$600 on new tires for street use. If I have a set of 14" wheels and tires with the same 4-bolt pattern, is it OK to use those on my quad? Will it harm anything??

Looking for any input anyone may have. I really want to be able to ride back and forth to work on my quad and save some money on fuel this summer.

I'd be equally worried about the suspension- a 400 ex is not tuned to be ridden on blacktop at extended periods.
I think you'd be fine with the 14" wheels- but they may be a bit squirrely on the tar without a damper and better shocks. I'm not even sure I understand the question

You bought new "off road" tires that you don't want to use "on road"- so you're looking to put "on road" tires on another set of 14" rims??? Either way you're buying a new set of rims & tires. You'll need a touring tire for road use.

Big tires are not good for a quad the center of qravity is too high. And the suspension is not setup for that. Get a set of scorchers don't know who they are made by, ten inch rims 18in. tires plus the fronts. +3 a-arms lowering kit. No need for an extended swinger. Lower the rear by the spring locknut ( no Need to revalve ) and you're set. And when they're setup right look bada@$

Thanks for responding.

Ill take both answers into consideration.

To clarify for "beergut": I already have a set of wheels and tires of an old corolla I was going to use. I don't want end up buying more new wheels and tires. Perhaps ill just stick to off-road. DAMN!

Not only would they be too tall, they would be a lot heavier than atv tires and wheels.

I mean ill Just stick to off-road riding with my quad. Not using my off-road tires. I found the "scorchers" you were speaking of sdm111. They look like a decent way to go as well. Explain What you were sayin I would have to tweak if I went that route?

+ 2 or 3 a-arms ( the wider the better ) a lowering kit for the front, preferably a +4 rear axle and lower the rear by unscrewing the rear shock spring top perch thing. Trying to widen and lower it to hug the road.

For all the time and money, just buy a used riding lawn mower and tweak it out. At least you won't have to worry about any damage you might be doing to the 400's suspension.
