question for recon owners
#1
my wife currently rides a 95 300 fourtrax 2wd. she likes it but always complains about the little things that are wrong with it. the main thing is that when she rides with shorts on, the exhaust is really hot on her leg. im thinkin about getting her a new recon and was wondering if they are fairly well covered?

I would advise that no one operate an ATV or motorcycle in shorts. If she ever fell off at speed she would know why I give this advice.
Other than that they do make exhaust wraps like this one that will cut down on heat a LOT.

dont get me wrong, its a great quad. But its 15.years old. Needs brake work mainly and she likes the look of newer quads, plus she wants full floorboards and sidecovers on the engine, she also complains that its hard to steer. She is only 125, so I think a recon would be more her size

My wife rode a 2003 Recon for a couple of years. She just couldn't handle the ride on it anymore. I got her a Rancher last year and now she can handle riding all day which she couldn't do on the Recon. She weighs 110 and is 5'4" and has no problem handling the Rancher.

It was a very rough ride for her. I think it was the fact that she didn't weigh enough to get the suspension to flex enough. Also the wheel base width is smaller than a standard ATV so going through areas where tracks have been made she would have two tires in the track and two out. I watched her roll the machine more than once trying to power through mud only to end up catawampus with previous ATV tracks. The Rancher is a great fit for her. She loves the size and the fact she has 4x4 now.
