Thats a FourTrax 300 ,the most reiliable ATV ever made. It was replaced but the FourTrax 350 Rancher in 2001 I think. http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...ehicleCode=689

My buddie's 250ex is listed as a "trx250ex sportrax". I don't know what the ex actually stands for, but I think that is the distinction between the fourtrax and the sportrax. I do know that on the 250's everything is the same except the body (and probably SOMETHING??? with the frame too) But the drivetrain, tires, suspension, etc. are the same. I would guess that it's the same way with the 300 also. Hopefully somebody will say I'm wrong if I am before you go ordering parts. You should be able to call you're local shop and ask somebody in either parts or service and ask them what the difference is as far as parts interchangability between the two. But I would say yours is the ex just by comparing yours to my buddy's and the differences between them and the fourtrax. BTW, what kinda tires are those on the rear of your bike?

TRX is Honda's designation for any 4 wheeled atv, and 300 is obviously for the engine size. In 1996, it looks like Honda had 3 models with a (roughly) 300cc engine, a 2wd ute, 4 wd ute, and your TRX300EX sport quad. All of those machines share a TRX300 designation, and it is the letters at the end that differentiates between the 3. In your case, you need the "EX" when looking up parts on microfiche or at the dealer, etc. Don't worry, it is a popular model, in production in one form or another since 1986 through the present, lots of parts available.
