Default fourtrax 300 4x4 brake drum cover

I have a 1998 fourtrax 300 4x4 and i am trying to change the rear brakes on it but the brake drum cover will not come off. I thought it was just suppose to pull off but it will not. Is there a certain thing i am suppose to do?

You've got to take off the two nuts on the axle that hold it in place

Did you take off the little skid plate under it? If so it should come right out. Pry it with a screwdriver

if EVERYTHING is disconnected, including the cable, then take a rubber mallet (NOT a hammer) and hit it as hard as you can a couple of times to knock it loose...you probably have some corrosion causing havoc with the inside of the brake drum

Make sure you remove the little o-ring around the middle of axle that is recessed up in the drum! and than not come off drum is seized or the brake cam has got drum locked on or drum is worned down enough that won,t come over shoes..
