Default snorkel problems for 350

I have a 2003 rancher 350 2wd. 7 months ago i snorkeled the airbox and it worked great during the test run. however in the past few months everytime i go in water it starts to spit and sputter and then cuts off, but once pulled out of the water it cranks back. i have taken the carburetor off and cleaned it numerous times. can anyone help me figure out what it might be. the airbox is sealed tight, i have no water getting in it at all. please help.

Have you liberally greased all your electronic connections with dielectric grease? spark plug boot, cdi and voltage reg, coil, all need to be waterproof, or a short from moisture can cause it to sputter when you go deep.
