Default Big Red Honda 3 wheeler - help asap!

I have a 3 wheeler Honda and I was riding it around a lot, but with very low oil. It was about half to what it should have been bought a bottle and put one in finally. but at this point I already rode a good 40 miles on it ( going to work ) It would smoke every time I rode it, finally after I put the oil in it, it won't smoke anymore, it still makes a big pop sound when turning it off and smells a little, but nothing like it did. It still turns on but it is a lot harder, I have to kick 10 times more than I used to when I got it. Is that related? is there something I can do to fix this? glad I finally got oil in it, but it is killing my knee to keep doing this and the electric start doesn't work. Any help? hope I didn't hurt anything. Just had to get to work and couldn't get oil right away.

I posted this on another site with no luck, since I posted this, some other things have happened. I put regular gas in it, because I asked a friend to buy me some gas but didn't tell him which kind, so he just assumed regular, which is fine I suppose. but then when I was riding home my engine died out in the middle of the road, I was able to coast it to the side, some guys came by to help me, they said regular gas shouldn't hurt it... but I don't know, that is why I am here asking you guys. We got it restarted and I made it home right when I got home it died again... I restarted it and made it up my hill to my house.

That night I tried it again just to see if it'll happen or if it was just coincidence. I made it about quarter mile down the road and then it shut down again in the middle of a back road. Once it was nearly done coasting a big spark came under the engine and made a loud gun shot type noise. I restarted it and drove it home and haven't started it since.

I am taking it to be worked on tomorrow, what in the world could this be? is it related to the 87 gas or something else? it has been smoking since I got the machine and makes a loud BAM sound when I turn it off from the exhaust or something after running it for a while... but it never did this. Please help.

Sounds like you have several problems going on at once, NOT being a professional mechanic it sounds like valve adjustment is #1 on list because of the hard starting and pop when shutting off.#2 go find a three wheeler club web site make some friends and go from there!

I"d start with the carb. Could be float sticking filling the carb with fuel. This would cause it to essentially flood out and die. It would also cause excess fuel to build up and igniting when you kill it causing the pop.

no the gas wont be the problem unless it takes 2 cycle oil.but ya sonds like float is getting stuck try cleaning float valve part under float with the mounting pin and clean jets.
