I just want to think everyone that has answered my messages in the past. Well I was wondering How good the Electronic Shift is and how good the LCD instrument Panel is? I know on a foot shift that as fast as you shift is how fast the engine will shift gears but what about on the ES? Also how realiable is the LCD instrument Panel and the ES itself? Thanks For all the help in the Future and in the Past. Matt

Two words about the ES system. ROCK SOLID!!
plus for the extra 200.00 you get a nice set of floorboards and a very nice dashboard.

WE BOUGHT THREE AND THEY SHIFT AS FAST AS YOU CAN HIT THE BUTTON. I WAS DEAD SET ON MANUAL SHIFT UNTIL I TEST RODE IT. THE FLOORBOARDS AND DISPLAY ARE GREAT....THE ODOMETER AND HOURMETER ARE HELPFUL FOR KEEPING UP WITH MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE.

Honda's ES was derived from their Formula One racing cars. When you press the shift button it shifts "right now". I have found that the harder you ride it (the RPM's are up) the faster it will shift. I don't power shift mine, I always let off the gas, then shift, then reapply gas. I'm told it will really scoot when power shifting, but at the expense of some possible transmission trouble later on. I wouldn't do a lot of that, personally.

I have never had ANY trouble with the ES or the shifter buttons, but I'm not a deep water or deep mud rider either.

Hope this helps. The Rancher is a great ATV!

I love my Rancher es 4x4.. I wouldn't even consider going back to a foot shifter if i had a choice to have the ES program on any quad.
